The College Board has updated the SAT to be digital in 2024. With this change comes a new test format, question styles, and strategies for success on the SAT. These changes can be overwhelming for students, especially those who have already prepared for the paper-and-pencil version which is now obsolete.
This informs how our course is designed: we provide up-to-date information about the new digital SAT and work with students to develop strategies and strengthen content knowledge so they can crush the SAT on Test Day.
Class time is evenly divided between the Reading and Writing and the Math sections of the SAT. Students take two practice tests outside of class to gauge their progress, and during class they complete practice problems to solidify their understanding of the different question types on the SAT. Families must purchase The Official Digital SAT Study Guide, published by the College Board, which is available on their website and at major retailers.
All classes are taught by James Miller. James is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and of the University of Virginia where he majored in biology. He scored a perfect 800 in the Math section of the SAT. As a college student, he took the MCAT and scored in the top 3% of test-takers. James has taught SAT Prep for seven years with a national test prep company and Fairfax Collegiate.
James is a firm believer in cultivating a growth mindset in test prep courses. He appreciates that each student learns at a different pace and believes students should focus on their own improvement without comparison to their classmates. Through this, James' students learn in a comfortable environment and feel less stress as they prepare for Test Day.
